Books I really hope to read in 2009:

1. Orientalism by Edward Said
2. Love in a Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
3. The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood
4. Just Do Something: A Liberating Approach to Finding God’s Will or How to Make a Decision Without Dreams, Visions, Fleeces, Impressions, Open Doors, Random Bible Verses … Liver Shivers, Writing in the Sky, etc. by Kevin DeYoung
5. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
6. Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle

I'm risk-adverse in making plans about reading. 6 books, 12 months. On top of academic readings, devotional materials and the occasional indulgence. I think this is a pretty sustainable list and a good mix too.
