500 days of summer

Yosemite for the weekend was unforgettable.

The girls were shocked to realize the full force of summer heat since we've been pretty much freezing in the Bay area. So we took turns to change in the car. We baked in the sun on cool slippery rocks; water running underneath them. Trekked through dung only to find out we were on the wrong tracks. Drove to high spots to gaze at the Half Dome and the valleys. At night, the small town was asleep when we reached. Bought microwaveable food at the neighbourhood liquor store and stole back in our oversized group of 9 into the little inn room. Snuck out at night to stare at the stars; saw a long arching shooting star. Beer in hand; crappy junk food on the trunk.

Sunday evening we drove home to Berkeley. We met a redneck trucker who was being a complete asshole. Almost got pulled over by the highway patrol cos we were doing 100 on a 70 (miles not kilometres). BUT there was a flashy Merc that took the rap for all the speeding cars just for being flashy. Haha. The sun set over hundreds of wind vanes on dusty hills and we sung along to Kanye & co. Took a detour through Oakland and named all the enclaves as if we were experts. Ended up in a Jewish restaurant that served unAmerican sized food along Shattuck. Got back, did my work from 1am-3am.

California, you've stolen my heart.
